Corelogic is a company based on gathering financial, property, consumer info, analytics, and business intelligence. Most of its wealth of data is based on real estate or property and they’re always looking for more ways to collect it.
One of its job roles is the claim adjuster, who inspects property damage between the insurer and insurance company to assess the damage dealt to the property.
In property damage claims, the main role of the claims adjuster is to carry out a detailed investigation into the claim by: inspecting the damage, reviewing police reports, speaking to witnesses, or talking to property owners.
On the job, the adjuster uses a very wide variety of tools, such as a phone, computer, measuring devices, chalk, digital camera, pitch gauge, paper, pen, clipboard, and more.
As a result of using so many tools, adjusters are documenting damage all differently, making it harder for the parent company to collect proper data, and harder for adjusters to collaborate or work with one another.
• Creating a consistent annotation system, annotated property damage will be easier to read and more accurately collected.
• By reducing the amount of tools an adjuster needs to use, adjusters can document their damage faster.
• From making many of the tasks digital and on a user's a phone, it'll make the process easier to track and increase collaboration and visibility.
Capture is an app for Inspectors to record and share property damage through captions and annotations, so that insurance claims can be easily tagged and logged for insurance companies and other parties to see.
Users can open the app to see which claims are assigned to them, locate and drive to the property they're inspecting, take photos and annotate the damage, and either they or someone else can approve or deny the claim.
Our original goals were to have at least 70% of adjusters annotating with the app within 6 months, but within 3 months, only 20% of them were using it. The reason for this is because the average age for an adjuster is 44 years old, making it harder to learn and adopt.
If I had more time with this app, I'd create a good onboarding or tutorial experience on how to use the app or place annotations, or a good knowledge center with videos on how to do it. I believe this will increase adoption and make it easier for users to understand how to annotate or find things within the app.
